Prof. Dr. Sascha P. Quanz is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich, where he leads the Exoplanets and Habitability Group. He also serves as the Deputy Head of the Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics and is the Deputy Director of ETH Zurich's Centre for Origin and Prevalence of Life (COPL).

Prof. Dr. Quanz's research focuses on the detection and characterization of exoplanets, particularly Earth-like planets, and the study of their potential habitability. His work includes the development of observational techniques and instruments, as well as the analysis of data from ground- and space-based telescopes. He has contributed to the design and science cases for future missions aimed at detecting biosignatures in exoplanet atmospheres.

He earned his Ph.D. in Astronomy from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany, in 2007. After a period in industry, he joined ETH Zurich in 2009, progressing from Postdoctoral Researcher to Full Professor.

Prof. Dr. Quanz has authored numerous publications in the field of exoplanet research and is actively involved in international collaborations. His work has significantly advanced our understanding of planetary systems beyond our own.
